Nearly 6 years ago, I fell down due to cerebral haemorrhage. To think of it, I remember there had been some minor symptoms; however, I could not notice them at first because of my lack of knowledge on health and overconfidence in my physical condition. As I had kept working very hard since I was young, I took it in good humor and tried to think that God granted me the ample time for rest before death. Nonetheless, the time I was confined in the bed was felt unbearably too long for me. Confronting the approaching death, I thought about the vital importance of health, I thought it, indeed, seriously from the bottom of my heart.

According to the report issued by the Ministry of Health and Welfare (Japan) in 1999, the number of people who die due to cerebral infarction amounts to more than 140,000 persons per year and, on top of that, about 1.73 million people now suffer from serious aftereffects of the disease. Because of this situation, the hardship the family members will have to bear would be, undoubtedly, far more than we can imagine.

In my case, thanks to the most appropriate early treatment my friend, who is a doctor, practiced on me and good care after that, I luckily survived and am now very healthy without any aftereffects. So, I feel always deeply grateful to my doctor friend and all other people who did their best to save my life. The fact is, however, I am one of the very few people who were fortunate enough.
